it looks like detective latoya jackson took a break from sleuthing and getting to the bottom of everything to play “the phantom of the opera” for one night over in dresden, german where she was the guest of honor at the “5th semper opera ball” and picked up some kind of award …. probably for extremely loose lips because her lips didn”t stop flapping after her brother michael jackson suddenly passed away this past june! i don”t really have anything bad to say about her but i did feel she was really trying to hog the spotlight - girlfriend just needed to calm down - at least she wasn”t as bad as tila tequila who”s beyond out of control at the moment! on a quick personal note - thanks to everyone who sent me birthday wishes via twitter and facebook - 34 feels pretty damn good and i plan on making this year totally rock! much love to all as always - popbytes over & out for tonight ….

I”m on the fence about this Cheap Monday Big Envelope Bag ($55). I really want to want it, but it”s just too big! I like the idea of taking an envelope clutch and expanding it to a messenger and the unique asymmetrical zipper opening is a nice touch, but the way it fits over the body just looks wrong. Plus the hardware on the adjustable strap looks very weak (I can imagine filling the bag with books and it ripping from the looks of it….). It”s unfortunate too because if the messenger were just a touch smaller it could double as an over-sized clutch (and you wouldn”t have to bother with the cheap strap….). Alas, I”m going to have to conclude that this bag is more of slob than a snob (not to mention, perhaps a bit too appropriately named!).

Established in 1996 in Greece, Korres features skincare, bodycare, haircare, and makeup products. One of Korres” latest ranges is Materia Herba, which currently includes nine Ecocert-certified organic skincare products. (There are two cleansers, five facial moisturizers, and two eye moisturizers.) Today I am highlighting two of the facial moisturizers.
Materia Herba Moisturising Cream for Oily to Combination Skin has a light consistency that spreads easily. Some of its ingredients that help moisturize the skin include glycerin, caprylic/capric triglyceride, cetearyl alcohol, safflower seed oil, glyceryl stearate, sunflower seed oil, and sesame seed oil.
The product does not contain mineral oil, silicones, or parabens. It contains fragrance.
One major drawback of this product is the large amount of alcohol it contains. (It is second on the ingredient list.) It makes the product potentially drying for most skin types.
Materia Herba Anti-Ageing Cream for Oily to Combination Skin has a somewhat similar formulation, but it does not contain alcohol. (The product still contains benzyl alcohol, which can be drying for some people. But it is not towards the very top of the ingredient list (8th on the ingredient list).)
Some of the moisturizing ingredients include sunflower seed oil, caprylic/capric triglyceride, glycerin, jojoba seed oil, squalane, glyceryl stearate, and soybean oil.
The product has a similar consistency to that of the Moisturising Cream for Oily to Combination Skin reviewed above. Even though the product has a light texture, sunflower seed oil (an occlusive moisturizing agent) is second on the ingredient list. It also contains other occlusive moisturizing ingredients such as jojoba seed oil, squalene and soybean oil. Overall, I think the product might be too occlusive for those with oily, combination, or normal-to-oily skin.
The product does not contain mineral oil, silicones, or parabens. It contains fragrance.

A few weeks ago I told you about Hard Candy”s latest eyeliner, with a Chinese takeout theme. Now, I”m back to share another super cute pick from Hard Candy”s Walmart line.
Their Painted Lady Lipstick is now one of my favorite lipsticks, that I often reach for when I want to flaunt a pretty, bright pink lip.
The color I used was No Peeking, which is a pretty, light fuchsia shade. The lipstick has fantastic pigmentation, a super creamy and moist consistency which leaves the perfect amount of shine. It”s a semi matte finish and applies a bit sheerer than it appears in the tube.
As you can see, the packaging is really incredible and unique. The lipstick shade is visible at top of the tube, and each case”s design is unique to it”s color (No Peeking, shown above is one of the prettiest to me). All of the shades have the pretty pink ribbon at the end, which I just love, and see how many people respond when I pull it out!

(Dove Body Butter for Extra Dry Skin)

Last month I reviewed three of Dove”s body lotions. As we are heading into winter, some of us might need more intense moisture. Today I am highlighting two of Dove”s body butters.
Body Butter for Extra Dry Skin and ProAge Rich Body Butter have very similar formulations. The first ten ingredients of the two products are entirely the same and they are listed in the same order on the ingredient lists. (They are aqua, petrolatum, glycerin, dimethicone, cyclopentasiloxane, stearic acid, hydrogenated polyisobutene, ethylhexyl cocoate, hydrogenated didecene, and glycol stearate.) The two products also contain cocoa seed butter and shea butter, while ProAge Rich Body Butter contains olive fruit oil.
Both body butters have a rich texture and are very emollient. The ProAge range is promoted as a very intensely nourishing range, and ProAge Rich Body Butter is indeed more emollient than Body Butter for Extra Dry Skin.
Unless you have exceptionally dry skin, body butters are generally for drier areas of the body only. (They can be used alone or on top of your usual body lotion.) I do personally find that both body butters are too emollient to be used all over the body, but they do work well on dry patches. For me, they also work well as hand creams. Overall, both are good choices if you want a very rich body moisturizer.
(ProAge Rich Body Butter has a slightly stronger fragrance. If you are worried about scented body moisturizers clashing with your fragrances, Body Butter for Extra Dry Skin should be a better choice.)

I loved Alicia Keys” retro/braided-Mohawk up-do that she wore to the 2009 American Music Awards last night.
Now I”ve got the scoop on how you can recreate this look for festive holiday parties and special events! Alicia”s hairstylist, Tippi Carter, created the look with the following steps. - RLB
1. Alicia recently got her hair colored a few shades lighter with Clairol, so Tippi started off by washing her hair with the Pantene Pro-V Color Revival Shampoo & Conditioner.
2. Tippi came up with a fun updo that transformed effortlessly throughout the night. Alicia has always been well known for her braids, so Tippi decided to incorporate a creative twist that involved light, romantic braiding.
3. After Alicia’s hair was washed, Tippi sprayed the Pantene Pro-V Detangling Light Conditioning Spray to condition and protect her hair before heat styling. The detangler helped smooth her hair while Tippi blow-dried with a Mason Pearson brush.
4. Tippi wanted to recreate the backward Mohawk braid that she did for Alicia’s most recent music video, so she sectioned the hair into three sections front to back. Then, she gathered the two outermost sections and secured the in ponytail using Ojon Animated Styling Cream.
With the center section, Tippi started a braid from the nape all the way to the front, making it a little off center. She tucked the end of the braid underneath the main braid and secured with bobby pins. To finish the look with strong hold, Tippi used Ojon Tunu Elastik Hairspray and Bed Head Headrush Shine Spray.

Cameron Diaz has been spotted sporting the Tila March Zelig large canvas tote
which at under $500 is a pretty fairly priced especially given how spacious it is. I wouldn”t personally buy it — it has a Tory Burch-esque WASP-y quality to it which isn”t really my style — but I do think it”s a great summer-to-fall transition bag especially in wicker. I wish it was a little wider though so it would look a little less boxy.
